Collective Rights.

These are rights that only certain groups are entitled to. These groups are groups that have an importance in Canadian history.

Alright lets get started!

The first group we will go over is the Aboriginal. The Aboriginal have special rights because they were the first people to live in Canada. Their rights are:

  1. special hunting and fishing rights (they can hunt and fish more than anyone else)
  2. special land claims (they get claim to their native lands)

The second group we will discuss will be the Francophones. They get special rights because they played a huge role in the history of rights, freedoms and democracy today. Their rights are:

  1. the right to be schooled in French
  2. the right to go to court in French.

The final group to talk about is Anglophones. The Anglophones get special rights because the first settlers (other than the Aboriginal) were british people. Their rights are:

  1. the right to be schooled in english
  2. the right to go to court in english
